Lawn Fertilizer Calculator (N-P-K)
Pounds of fertilizer and bag count for any lawn, targeting the right N per 1,000 sq ft. Starter, spring, summer, fall, winterizer presets.
LIFESTYLEPounds of fertilizer and number of bags needed for any lawn, targeting the correct pounds of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet (the standard turf-grass dosing unit). Includes 5 seasonal presets (starter, spring, summer, fall, winterizer) plus custom N-P-K.
Math: lbs of bag-fertilizer = (target N per 1,000 sq ft Γ area / 1000) / (N% / 100). Example: a 1,500 sq ft lawn targeting 1.0 lb N per 1,000 sq ft, using 24-0-6 fertilizer, needs (1.0 Γ 1.5) / 0.24 = 6.25 lb of product. Typical N targets: 0.5 lb/1,000 for slow-release granular, 1.0 lb/1,000 for fast-acting. Most cool-season lawns want 2-4 lb total N per year split across 2-4 applications. P (phosphorus) often regulated by state (banned in many states without soil test). K (potassium) supports drought/cold tolerance.
